With the same love of God and neighbor that compels us to preach salvation through Jesus Christ, protect unborn life, preserve the family and the sanctity of marriage, and take the whole Gospel to a hurting world, as evangelical Christians we resolve to come together with others of like mind to pray and to work to stop global warming.
Pollution from vehicles, power plants, and industry is already having a dramatic effect on the earth’s climate. People God cares about are being hurt by the early impacts of climate change. Left unchecked, global warming will lead to more severe droughts, more intense storms, and more devastating floods, resulting in millions of deaths in this century. Prudence and compassion require us to act.
We seek to learn what we can do as individuals, families, churches, and communities. We pray for wisdom and courage as we face the difficult choices and issues related to climate protection. And we call upon our leaders in government and business to act boldly and to set a new course.
