The Evangelical Climate Initiative is a campaign to advance sound and moral climate change policy, motivated by the values and principles that derive from faith in Jesus Christ and the conviction that we are called to protect God’s creation. The initiative is anchored by a growing group—now 260 senior evangelical leaders—who have signed the statement entitled Climate Change: An Evangelical Call to Action and who are calling on public officials to advance legislation that will limit emissions, while respecting economic and business concerns.

ECI has an ongoing presence in the Nation’s Capital and is a consistent resource to national decision-makers. The efforts of The Evangelical Climate Initiative to advance sound climate policy are based on traditional, conservative perspectives expressed in its document, Principles on Federal Climate Change Policy [PDF].

ECI is also encouraging action by evangelical Christians and all Americans to make life changes necessary to help solve the global warming crisis and it is organizing evangelicals to contend for policies that will be faithful to scripture and will protect God’s creation.

The national spokesperson is Rev. Jim Ball, president of the Evangelical Climate Initiative.
